CHECK OUT THE FULL RETREAT INSTEAD

In Māori culture, the koru—a tightly coiled fern frond—is a powerful symbol of new beginnings, growth, and strength. It marks the start of unfolding.

Even the All Blacks’ famous “Silver Fern” logo has transcended rugby to become an internationally recognized emblem of resilience and vitality.

Mother Wild was born from meeting countless women in mothering and caregiving roles whose own unfolding was set aside during this life phase. Their inner koru—the potential for growth—wasn’t receiving the nourishment it needed.

Many of us remain in that tightly wound state for years, never fully spreading our wings or reconnecting with our own wild nature.

The thought of unrealized potential brings Carmela to sad tears; the vision of women blossoming into their full selves, supported by community, brings her to joyful ones.

This retreat is our invitation: to reconnect with your inner voice, to nurture yourself and your dreams, and to step into your wild before stepping into the world again.

We’ll walk beside you as guides, holding space for your unfolding. Along with the koru who will also be beginning its journey. As well as the inspiring towering ferns who don’t dull or apologize for their brilliance.

Even the retreat center speaks to this path: Aio Wira means Peace Wheel, and the first thing you’ll see on arrival is a spiral—a sign for your own becoming.

Like the koru, you are ready to uncoil.

If you feel the call to emerge into your truest, fullest self (and to bring Carmela and Karryn to joyful tears), we welcome you to join us.

Words from Mamas After a Mother Wild Retreat

“This retreat filled me up on so many levels! I arrived feeling completely depleted, exhausted, and unclear about both my business and my personal life.

We talked, we shared, and we had incredible workshops—calm, energetic, and even ecstatic ones. I laughed so much my belly hurt, I cried, I moved through all the emotions, and I fell into the safe net of wonderful women from around the world who held space for me. I loved reconnecting with dear old friends and meeting new, beautiful souls—we all felt like soul sisters.

We connected so deeply. I miss everyone already, but knowing that I can tap back into the energy I felt during the retreat helps me face everything at home in a lighter and more joyful way.” - Judith

“Every year, I squeeze a Mother Wild retreat into my heaving calendar. It’s become as essential to my survival (thrival?) as oxygen—a sacred space for mothers to gather in swathes of stillness and deep-belly laughter.

These natural, well-fed patches of time let us breathe and reclaim what modern life has structured away from us. Together, we begin to untangle ourselves.” - Lindsay

“What started as a yoga and mums retreat for a little rest with my sister turned into so much more. New friendships, deeper emotions, open hearts, and full bellies. I learnt to let go, to share, to be still, hug more and loved every moment of it.” - Fiona

“Attending the Mother Wild retreat felt like stepping into a realm beyond imagination — a sacred, mystical world that had long lived in my dreams, yet somehow surpassed them.

For years, I’ve been searching — yearning for peace, for lightness, for community, for joy. At Mother Wild, I found all of these in radiant abundance.

In the gentle unfolding of self-discovery, I was gifted the freedom to release the painful narrative I had clung to for too long. It was as if my soul had been waiting for this moment to exhale.

For five days, I was held — seen, heard, and loved. And even now, after returning to the rhythm of daily life, I carry a longing to stay connected, to continue weaving bonds with these remarkable souls.” - Kristen

YOGA/BREATHWORK/MEDITATION - We’ll have a spacious studio for our practices. Each day we’ll offer a mix of yoga styles from a more active vinyasa-style yang practice to start our day to a relaxing and deep yin practice as the sun sets.

We may pretend otherwise but everything will revolve around food.

All your meals will be lovingly prepared with locally sourced ingredients from plant-based chef and cookbook author @TheRecklessFoodie.

This is what her delicious and nourishing food looks like.

FACILITIES - We’ll have a sauna and a spa pool under the stars. We can also take nature dips in the river that runs through the grounds.

Accommodation is in rooms with twin beds. There are four shared bathrooms at the retreat center with toilets and showers. We’ll be an intimate group of around 10 people so we have plenty of space.

DAILY ‘ME’ TIME - Take a walk. Read and relax in the garden. Swim at the beach or in the river.

There are an abundance of hikes ranging from ten minutes to 90 minutes (Cascade Kauri Park) all accessible from our private sanctuary.

Or do nothing at all.

The choice is yours.

Q&As

  • Inspiring sheroes in need of some vitamin R: to rest, refresh, recharge, rejuvenate, recalibrate, reassess, revitalize, reprioritize, and retreat.

  • Because the food will be delicious, the nature divine, and the post retreat effects are better than napping.

  • Taking time for yourself is not selfish. We all need time to rest and recharge and to reconnect with ourselves. We can’t fill from an empty cup. Trying to do so makes us more tired and resentful and definitely not the sparkly version of ourselves that we want to be. Take time for you. You deserve it and nobody is going to give you permission to do so until you give yourself permission.
